Alchemy

I was just fifteen the year I turned into a horse,
And went galloping, galloping, galloping across the plains
Through the dance halls and the diners and the all night Texacos
And I galloped to the place where only shadows go

At 21 I harnessed my great strength
And with blinders on I pulled the heavy load
Through the darkness of the mines I pulled the load

And we're like grapes, shining in the sun
And the grapes must be crushed in order for the wine to come
The milk may spoil and the water stand too long
But the wine bubbles over and the heart bursts into song
Yeah the wine bubbles over and he heart bursts into song

At 30 I woke up one day and found myself alone
And I turned from a horse into a rolling stone
And some time passed, and I was hard and cold
And the stone lay buried in a vein of precious gold

And the earth's plates shifted and a great weight came to bear
And a chasm opened up and I was light as air
Yes a chasm opened up and I floated in the air

And we're like grapes, shining in the sun
And the grapes must be crushed in order for the wine to come
The milk may spoil and the water stand too long
But the wine bubbles over and the heart bursts into song
Yeah the wine bubbles over and the heart bursts into song
