Way Station in Purgatory

A way station in purgatory
A stop along the way
On the road to paradise
A place to heal and pray
Yes that road is rough and rocky
The desert stretches far and wide
A way station in purgatory where you can bide some time

A way station in purgatory
A tikki bar beside the sea
Mariachis play the same damn song
While the war rages on TV
Hotel Fiesta is the name on the sign
Tequila's flowing day and night
The way station in purgatory
Helps you lose the will to fight

Wishes dance across your heart
A kiss from lips that slightly part
The aching need for that wish to be returned
The willful disregard for all you've learned

Lightening flashes on a distant shore
Volcano goddess splits the sky
A troubled wind on a troubled land
A rocky beach smoothed by the tide
A way station in purgatory, a stop along the way
The way station is open to any traveler with a coin to pay
