HOT PICKIN', SOULFUL CROONIN'

Jayme's songwriting and song selections are informed by a wide variety of styles from folk to rock to blues to jazz. Jayme's full, sultry voice and truthful, expressive delivery provide a cohesive core for songs that range from the topical to the deeply spiritual to spunky "he done her wrong" blues. Locally, Jayme averages 30 performances anually and enjoys a reputation for warm, meaningful showcases featuring literate, soulful songs and the Bay Area's best musicians.

JAYME'S BANDS:

The Jayme Kelly Curtis Band: Jayme's luxurious voice is framed by virtuoso performances by violinist Autumn Hancock and multi-instrumentalist Topher Gayle on mandolin, mandola and guitar. The trio's set includes jazzy, folkloric originals and spicy acoustic blues for an intimate musical experience both spellbinding and playful.

The And Friends Band
gives Jayme a chance to play a diverse mix of acoustic blues and folk, spunky originals, and tunes that live on the psychedelic fringes of bluegrass. This is a band that spells fun: featuring Phil Campbell on mandolin, Annie Aronson on percussion, Mark Varner on upright bass and the amazing Patrick Weldon on Dobro and musical saw!

Uke Be A Lady specializes in classic and obscure tunes from the Swing era, Tin Pan Alley and the Jazz Age. Featuring Miss Mona Lott on ukulele and vocals, Miss Wanda McGlove on the violin, and Randy Baton on upright bass and protection.

Dulcimer Girls features the heavenly vocal harmonies of Laura Devine and Jayme Kelly Curtis and the ethereal sound of the mountain dulcimer on originals, folk ballads, old timey and spirituals. The distinctive sound of the dulcimer is at once otherworldly and down home.

Any combination available for gatherings of all kinds.

Sugar & Sand: A Trilogy in Three Moods

"Sugar & Sand is full-out, pure passion. Jayme Kelly Curtis's vocals give a ton
of heart to the songs and the music adds flesh to that passion,
emphasizing the tones of each mood."

Paul de Bruijn, Rambles

Jayme's second solo CD, Sugar And Sand features outstanding performances by such acoustic heavyweights as mandolinist/ piper Radim Zenkl, violinist Autumn Hancock, and percussion wizard Rick Walker. The CD features 12 original songs in three genre, each brought to life by the Bay Area's best players: Walter Bankovitch, piano; Jack Marshall and Mimi Hills, bass; George Demarest, trumpet and flugelhorn; Carol McComb, Dobro®, Jeff "Felonius Smith," National Steel Guitar; and Mark "Fenny" Fenichel, harmonica. Electric guitar legend Dave Meniketti shreds it up on a straight ahead blues.

Sugar & Sand is divided into three chapters that flow smoothly from rock to blues to Jayme's own folkloric jazz ballads, showing off her powerful, earthy voice in all its many colors.

In A Rushing Stream - Now in its Second Printing!

Released in 1999, Jayme's debut CD, In A Rushing Stream, has won favorable reviews and international airplay, and took top honors in the Best Music You Never Heard show on KGO Radio, San Francisco. The CD was engineered by rock legend Dave Meniketti at the Space Station, and includes performances by a host of the Bay Area's best musicians.

"I received your album this morning and just finished listening to it all in one shot. You did a great job on the album (as opposed to a few songs and filler.)  It comes across as very successfully done as a whole.  I'll air this next Saturday night on my station and probably play cuts 1-4 the first week. I want the listeners to hear the ideas and feelings as you planned them on the album. It feels good. Let me know when your next one is released."
Jack "Sandman" Garrison WFIT FM, Melbourne, Florida

LATEST PRESS:

"Subtitled A Triology in Three Moods, Curtis can call it what she wants. I'm going to call it music worth your listening to, for throughout the twelve songs that create this lush and evocative disc you can hear in her thrillingly passionate vocals and intelligently eclectic mix of musical motifs and instruments that Curtis loves her life and inspires us to do the same."
Mike Jurkovic, Folk & Acoustic Music Exchange

"...Immediately noticeable is Curtis' excellent voice quality, crisp enough to lacerate, as well as the top-notch quality of the musicianship. ...I think Curtis may have gone and created her own genre, and she owns it masterfully. Just beauteous."

Kevan Breitinger, Indie-Music.com
